Title:Possible ways to fight against the brain drain phenomenon in the Republic of Moldova

Abstract:The Republic of Moldova has been confronted, since its independence in 1991, to the brain drain phenomenon. In this article, several possible ways of diminishing the negative effects of the brain drain are proposed. Special attention needs to be drawn toward programs, facilitating temporary return of members of the Moldovan scientific diaspora to their country of origin. The integration of the Republic of Moldova into the European academic and scientific space is an important step on the country’s way towards European integration in general, and constitutes an efficient way to fight against negative effects of the brain drain phenomenon.

Biosynthesis of lipolytic enzymes by pseudomonas CNM-Psb, satellite microflora of dunaliella salina - NEW!

 Abstract:

We have investigated biosynthetic characteristics of two newly isolated Pseudomonas sp. 1 CNM-PsB-01 and Pseu domonas sp. 2 CNM-PsB-02 strains, in parallel with biotechnological tools oriented for obtaining enzymatic fractions with an elevated lipolytic activity. Based on rational design and mathematical optimization we suggested four new nutritive media, containing secondary organic resources, fi nally leading to prominent levels of lipo-enzymatic complexes. Production costs of these lipolytic complexes are reduced due to utilization of the aqueous supernatant resulting after collection of the primary Dunaliella salina biomass. We concluded that via combination of modern principles of biotechnology, and making use of secondary nutrient resources, like sterilized aqua fraction of D. salina, it is possible to obtain two major products in one biotech cycle, that is Dunaliella salina biomass and the lipolytic complex resulting from cultivation of Pseudomonas on the residual media.

O lucrare nouă: diasporele ştiinţifice - partenerii pentru dezvoltare

În ultimele două decenii, globalizarea a accelerat fluxurile internaţionale de migraţie, în special a forţei de muncă calificate. Totuşi, creşterea migraţiei a  lucrătorilor calificaţi din ţări în curs de dezvoltare provoacă o îngrijorare serioasă la nivel internaţional cu privire la impactul negativ asupra dezvoltării ţărilor de origine a migranţilor. Cartea "Diasporele ştiinţifice: partenerii pentru dezvoltare. Migranţii calificaţi din Columbia, India şi Africa de Sud în Elveţia: dovezi empirice şi recomandari de politici", de Dr. Gabriela Tejada şi Prof. Jean-Claude Bolay, cu toate acestea, subliniază aspectele pozitive ale migraţiei forţei de muncă calificate şi evidenţiază faptul ca diaspora ştiinţifică joacă un rol tot mai mare în transferul de tehnologie, abilităţi şi cunoştinţe către ţările lor de origine.
